Our Story
Hi, I'm Kelsyee — the owner, designer, seamstress, and salesperson behind West Fork Fly Company.
West Fork was born where many good ideas are dreamt up-on a long drive home. In the fall of 2021, after chasing steelhead with my husband, he asked me a simple question that changed everything: "What if you combined your love of sewing with your love of fly fishing?" That idea became the basis for West Fork Fly Company.
I loved creating in fabric long before I imagined that it could become a business. When our daughter was born, I stepped away from a career in finance to spend my days with her. During naptimes, I began sewing baby gear as a creative outlet and a way to stay connected to the world beyond diapers and nap schedules.
As our family grew and both of my children moved beyond the baby years, I realized, I too, was ready to grow. Creating baby gear had been rewarding, but I no longer felt inspired to design products for that stage of life. Instead, I found myself drawn back to the things I loved most—days spent on the water, nature's wild places, and the satisfaction of making something with my hands.
Named after the West Fork of the Bitterroot River, a place woven into both our childhoods, West Fork Fly Co is rooted in family and adventure. Every piece of gear is personally designed, sewn, and tested in Missoula, Montana. Our bold, colorful designs are created in-house or by independent artists, because we believe our gear should be as unique as the people who carry it.
What started in a corner of our basement has grown into a dedicated studio on the property beside our home. Each bag, pouch, and accessory is carefully crafted one at a time. From local rivers and alpine lakes to faraway fishing destinations, it's incredibly rewarding to see our gear accompanying anglers on their adventures.
When I'm not in the studio, you'll find me cheering from the sidelines at my kids' activities, searching tossing a line, or camping with my family. West Fork Fly Co was built around the goal that work and adventure can coincide. Our customers make it so I am able to design, sew, and run my business from wherever the road takes us.
Thank YOU for supporting me, this truly is my dream job!
